UKA Agility, Wadebridge, Cornwall. Saturday 16th August 2009.

For one reason and another this was the first time Mohican and I had competed since Milton Keynes last year. I have to admit I was quite nervous as we had done very little training this year. Coupled with the fact that I had entered my other dog One in a Million for her first competition and the that we were on holiday, I wasn't sure what to expect. But true to Mohicans form the little boy pulled it of again. The first run of the day was a Novice jumping run and had some tricky sequences to negotiate. As a handler very much out of practice I was banking on Mohicans skill to get through. Needless to say the boy did good and pulled off a blinding round, taking 1st place with 3 seconds to spare.

Milton Keynes Dog Agility Show, Sunday 14 September 2008.

After making the decision not to compete this year and resting my body and Mohicans, I just couldn't resist the competition on my door step. So just for the hell of it I entered. Given the fact that we had done no practice throughtout the year I was there just for fun. Needless to say that wasn't how Mohican saw it. After and fun clear round on the grade 4 jumping, Mohican streamed around the agility course with perfect running contacts and excellent weave entrances. He came in 2nd overall, a fabulous result. And he was only 0.2secs off the leader a really experienced Grade 5 dog.

SUPA Dogs 27-30th May 2007
Well this was our first trip to the SUPA Dogs competition down in Kent and well it was an adventure and a half. Apart from the terrible weather and the lack of provisions we had a great weeks worth of agility. Mohican was entering his first grade 4 competitions so we had a lot to think about. On Sunday we started carefully getting clear rounds in the 4-5 jumping and a 25th in the 4-5 Agility and a 13th in the 3-5 Jumping. The courses were very hard and a real challenge to run.
On the Monday unfortunately the rain came down and the agility rings were more of a mud ring. Needless to say we carried on, carefully, and pulled off a 3rd in the 3-5 Agility and a 15th in the 4-5 agility. On Tuesday a very tired Mohican and me put in a great effort in the rain once again and pulled off a 15th in the 4-5 agility and a clear round in the 4/5 jumping.

Overall this was a great test for Mohican and I. I always new that my dog could compete with the best of the agility world and at SUPA dogs he had a chance to show his true talent. Once again he was fantastic a really supa star.

Kernow K9 - Waddebridge, Cornwall. 6-7th April 2007

Well this was a really excellent competition, I would recommend it to anyone. We had everything, the sun, the sea and the agility. What more can you ask for. It was also a great opportunity for my family, down in Cornwall to see Mohican in action. And see him in action they did.

This was our first competition of the year and his first in Grade 3 (Graduate level). We had worked really hard on the contacts over the winter so I was really hoping to see excellent results. Well in true Mohican Madness style he shot around his first Agility course in 27.30secs with stunning contacts that even took my breath away. So his first Agility run of the year won him 1st prize. I think he was showing off to his Granny and Grandad personally. The weekend just got better and better. We finished with another 3rd place in Agility and a 5th in Jumping. After that we all went for a deserved swim in the Sea at Rock.

A fantastic start to the year. The Kukura magic is certainly working.

What An End To The Season.

After a fantastic First year Mohican is having a well earned rest from competitions over the Winter months. But what a year; 8 first places, 4 second places, 1 third place , 1 fifth place and 1 seventh place. This dog is awesome and handsome as well. For the next few months we will be hard a work training for the next level of novice agility on our brand new equipment. Tighter turns, quicker sendaways, and perfect contacts.

Can't wait till next season. Keep it up Mohican.

Dogs in Need August 2006
This was what it was all about. All the competitions for us were a build up to the week long show in Ipswich. We had sorted out our caravan and our awning and now were ready to take on a full week of caravaning, nearly...

The show was everything we had hoped for. For Papia there were hot showers and electrics so she was very happy. For me there was the Kookabura Coffee Man, Grant and great agility. What more do you need? The event was more of a holiday than an agility show and the pace was, thankfully very slow. Great agility to watch and run during the day and good entertainment during the evening. Where else could you take your 4 dogs for a holiday for less than a £100 a week?

Lemon and myself had some fantastic runs during the week. We tried out lots of new stuff, I even ran one course pretty much standing in the same spot. His contact equipment was super fast and his weave entrances were just stunning. The work we have done with Maria of Crazy Maesy really showed through.

Inspired by the senior finals we ran the Starters Jumping event where Lemon went up another gear. Apparently so did I and I'm still suffering for it now. Needless to say he ran a fabulous round which was both fast and efficient. At the end we were both running so fast that we took the last jump and nearly ended up in the trade stand opposite by the time we stopped. I'm so pleased no-one was walking by at the time. It was brilliant to find out that his time had matched his enthusiasm and we took 1st place with a half a second to spare.

Lemon is a one in a million dog. To win Elementary Agility, Starters Agility and then Starters Jumping all at such high profile shows and within his first year of training is just a dream come true. But the best thing is to see his little face at the end of a run when he knows he's done well. No trophy or rosette can beat that, it's like Lemon himself - PRICELESS.

29-30th July 2006 - Agility Club Show, Newbury

What a great weekend we had at Newbury. It certainly seems to be Lemon's lucky Showground. First we win out of Elementary there and then on the Sunday Lemon flew around a really hard course to take first place in Starters Agility out of 300 dogs. The course had a horrible A-Frame / weave combination and a three fence snake. Well I did hope to get into Novice agility but I didn't expect to get there quite so soon. It must be the extra special training from Jo Fraser and Maria Stein of the Crazy Maesy group. Once again my little star pulls it out the bag. Thank you Lemon I knew from the first time I saw you that you were special. Go Go Go Go.....

June and July Wellingbough and Empingham Shows
Due to an illness that Lemon picked up after the EMDAC competition, training and competitions were put on hold for a few weeks until he was fit and healthy again to compete.

Well we entered the Wellingborough competition first. I am glad to say that his fitness was almost back to normal and he put in some great clear rounds, under very hot conditions. We entered the WSD/BC Open Helter Skelter event where he put in a clear round that gave him 16th place, just outside the official placings.

After a few week of very positive training we entered the Empingham DTC up in Grantham. On Saturday we had a mixed bag of results due to the everlasting thunder. Starters events were a wipe out, but in the afternoon we entered the Novice Jumping for the first time and Lemon got a clear round on a difficult course. He would have probably been placed if I hadn't fallen over just before the last fence, Whoops!!!

On Sunday the weather was far more conducive to dog agility and Lemon ran a blinding round in the Starters Jumping coming 7th overall out of 290 dogs. Fantastic jumping.

Another great competition. The madness returns.

27th-29th May - EMDAC, Kent County Show
The Kent County Show has always been a fun day out so we decided to make this our long weekend away during half term. Lemon and Bruce were entered into this show on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Lemon picked up a 2nd place in the introductory jumping on the Saturday, with a time of 19.59 secs and the Sunday with a time of 17.56 secs, and then got a 1st place in the introductory jumping with a time of 18.74 secs and a 1st place in the introductory snakes and ladders on the Monday with a time of 19.21 secs. EMDAC are well know for their simple course, well in this competition I think the courses were aimed more at the Senior handlers than the introductory one, so I was even more pleased with Lemon's efforts. The same course was set for introductory and novice plus.

A excellent weekend and they had showers so Papia was pleased.

21st May 2006 - Cranbourne Open Agility Test
Well it happened and rather quicker than I first thought. Lemon and I won out of Elementary at the Cranbourne show. And what's more we did it in an agility round, so wonderful contacts and jumping. So he took first place with a time of 21.35secs, a whole 2 seconds faster than the second placed dog. It's nice to get a trophy I have to admit.

A fantastic weekend and we did it for Queenie.

30th April - 1st May Orchard Events in Knebworth.


Knebworth House held the Orchard event for Jumping and Agility. On the Sunday we had a exciting day, Lemon put in some fantastic runs working well ahead of me, sometimes upto 4 jumps. This was something that had not been possible in competitions before. Unfortunately due to the fact that the weave monster came up and bit Lemon, he did not get a clear round. Not deterred by the weave experience, Lemon came back with a vengeance on the Monday and took 1st place in Elementary Jumping with a time of 22.50secs, over 3 seconds faster than the 2nd place dog. Then he went on to take 3rd place in the Starters Jumping with a time of 23.01 seconds, only 0.6 of a second slower than the 1st placed dog.

A great end to a great weekend. Lemon you are indeed a little star.

16th and 17th April 2006
Orchard Event Easter Aglity Show at Shuttleworth
After our success in the Spring at Shuttleworth event I had high hopes for my little star, even if I was extremely nervous about my handling. We were entered for both Elementary and Starters events in Agility and Jumping.
On Saturday we ran the Elementary Agility and Jumping course. With a time of 26.42sec and 26.54secs respectively I was over the moon when he took 1st place in both events. What a start to the weekend, beyond my wildest dreams.

Then on the Sunday we entered the Starters events and had, shall we say a mixed bag of success. The agility was the first event at 8.30. I don't think Lemon likes early mornings as he decided to run off and check out a pretty little Blue Merle on the otherside of the ring. Still those things happen, so after a short little sleep for both Lemon and I we entered the Starters jumping. I have never seen Lemon run and jump so fast, he put in a staggering time of 16.78secs and took 3rd place.

A wonderful weekend with a wonderful dog. Thanks Mohican.

8th and 9th of April 2006
Spring at Shuttleworth, Kennel Club Affiliated Open Competition.

Both Lemon and I had worked really hard since the Whitstable competitions. We had been concentrating on the main combinations and contacts. This was Lemon's first real competition, out in the open so I wasn't really sure if he was even going to stay in the ring with me. Needless to say he put in some fantastic runs missing clear rounds by a whisker on the Saturday. On Sunday he went into the ring even more determined and as a result walked away with a 5th place in Starters Jumping with a time of 28.46secs. What a dog.

Unaffiliated Competition at Whitstable, Plum Pudding Lane

This was a great warm up for Lemon. We had only being doing agility for 3 months and I was pretty brave to put him into competitions this early. He made a great effort and negotiated some pretty difficult combinations. Lemon and I made great improvements over the two competitions.
